WHAT IS THE TREATMENT TIME AND FEE? 

It usually takes an hour for regular treatment. The initial visit would take about one and a half hours.  The treatment fee is $130 for the initial visit and $110 following visits.  

 

DO YOU TAKE HEALTH INSURANCE? 

Dr. Lee Acupuncture Clinic does not take insurance directly. However, we will provide you with an itemized invoice (called superbill) that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement if your plan covers acupuncture. Make sure to check with your insurance provider for coverage. You can use HSA or FSA card for payment.

 

HOW DOES ACUPUNCTURE WORK? 

In East Asian Medicine, acupuncture works by balancing the flow of the body’s Qi & Blood by inserting thin needles into specific points in the body. Researchers suggest that acupuncture stimulates and conducts brain activity to help reduce pain and inflammation, regulate hormones and boost the immune system. 

 

DO ACUPUNCTURE NEEDLES HURT? 

Acupuncture does not hurt; however, you may experience a range of symptoms which may include little to no sensation, a small pinch/prick, or a dull achy sensation. If fact, most people have reported feeling little to no sensation as acupuncture needles are very thin, solid, and flexible. If any discomfort is experienced, it is usually mild and temporary. 

 

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM MY FIRST ACUPUNCTURE TREATMENT?

If you have not completed your health history paperwork, please arrive 10 minutes before your first appointment. It is best if you wear loose comfortable clothing for your acupuncture treatment so clothing can be moved or removed to reach the acupuncture points. Gowns are available if you choose to wear one during the treatment. Depending on the condition being treated, clothing may need to be removed to reach important acupuncture points. 

 

HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO COME IN FOR THE TREATMENT? 

The frequency of treatment depends on the individual, including age, general health status, and the condition being treated. Many conditions respond faster to frequent acupuncture treatments, while weekly treatment is recommended generally. 

 

IS HERBAL MEDICINE SAFE?

Taking herbal medicine can be very safe if prescribed by a licensed and trained acupuncturist/ herbalist. if you are interested in taking herbs, it is very important and highly encouraged that you bring a list of your current medications, supplements, and allergies to your appointment. We only prescribe herbs that meet the highest international standards for safety and cleanliness.

 

HOW DO I PREPARE BEFORE MY TREATMENT? 

Make sure you have eaten a meal before acupuncture and are not dehydrated. Wear loose comfortable clothes that can be moved or removed to access acupuncture points that may be covered by clothing.
